Dr. Julia Lowe
Dr. Lowe heads up our Diabetes team. She has extensive experience working with Type 1, Type 2 and Gestational Diabetes and is passionate about improving diabetes services on the Gold Coast.
Aaron has been working in diabetes and foot care for most of his career, and takes a genuine and detailed assessment of the health of his clients’ feet, circulation, pain and joint issues, and works hard to ensure his clients can always put their best feet forward!
Credentialled Diabetes Educator
Amanda Fryer is a Registered Nurse and Diabetes Educator, and she has been working in the field of Diabetes for 20 years. She uses her working knowledge in the areas of Nursing, Midwifery and Diabetes to assist her clients physically, and to centre the approach around the client, personally.
Nutritionist/ Sports Dietitian
Emily has been working in Nutrition for the past 10years, and has a special interest in helping her clients understand how the body uses carbohydrates, maintaining healthy blood glucose levels and fuelling the body for movement. She is practical and works hard for her clients.
Her passion is driven by the wish to empower and guide her clients towards self-management and healthy living with their diabetes.
Through working in the diabetes filed, Melissa has been fortunate enough to work in many places around Australia and have gained valuable experience working in the Northern Territory including Diabetes Australia NT and The Royal Darwin Hospital. Some roles allowing FIFO work visiting rural and remote communities-these experiences have been invaluable and have allowed Melissa to develop the skills to focus on a client’s specific health needs. Following her time in the Territory, Melissa has worked in Victoria in the Public and private health sector in Box Hill and Dandenong.
Melissa currently also works at the Queensland Diabetes and Endocrine Centre at the Mater in Brisbane- her position is predominantly with the young adult diabetes team.
Melissa enjoys the challenge of combining technology with diabetes, including the introduction of insulin pump therapy, continuous glucose monitoring systems (CGMS) and their outcomes in particular the life changing affects technology can have in the management of diabetes.
Managing your health is a 24 hour a day job- Melissa enjoys empowering people to be their best happy healthy selves.
On the 28th June, Dr. Lowe is hosting a professional development event at AARI. This is a great opportunity to network with other Medical Professionals, gain insight into some of the common Endocrine presentations and to ask the questions you may not always have a chance to have answered.
